Date and Time: June 8, high noon
Figure 8 Island Beach Picnic, June 8th, 2017 at 1200
Please sign-up and join us for a fun time on the north end of Figure 8 Island. We will anchor off a protected just inside Rich's Inlet on the Northern tip of Figure 8 and enjoy a BYO picnic lunch. The ocean is a very short walk away across the tip of the island. To the north we will see Leah Island, an uninhabited nature sanctuary. Figure 8 is the vacation destination of some of the country's truly rich and famous and the houses reflect it. For those not familiar with these waters the area is accessed from the ICW via Nixon's Channel which is just north of marker 118 (about 1 mile north of the Figure 8 Island swing bridge. Nixon's Channel is unmarked but easily navigable by favoring the right side all the way from the ICW to the site of our picnic. Those wanting to transit in a group can meet at the Figure 8 Island swing bridge at 1100 and the Munnikhuysen's ("MJ", 24' sky blue Grady White center console) will lead the flotilla to the picnic.
